Short grain brown rice is a natural whole short grain rice, almost round & plum rice with the outer hull removed, leaving the nutrient-packed bran and germ.
Short grain brown rice cooks up soft and tender, and is known for sticking together and has a rich, nutty flavor and satisfying texture.
Cooking Instructions for plain rice:
- In a sauce pan add 1¾ cups of water or broth / Cup rice, salt to taste, 1Tbsp butter (if desired).
- Bring to a soft boil, lower the heat, cover with lid and simmer for 35-40 minutes.
- Turn off the heat, let the rice steamed in the covered pot at least another 10 minutes or until the rice has absorbed the liquid.
- Fluff with fork and ready to serve rice alone.
One cup of rice will yield: 2 ½ cups of cooked rice.
