Agar-Agar, also known as ‘Kanten or, China grass’, derived from bright red sea algae, is a vegetarian thickener, thickens better than gelatin.

Agar-Agar is rich in iodine and trace minerals. Used as a stabilizer or thickening agent for soups, fruits preserves, ice creams, puddings, cheesecakes, other desserts and egg-free dessert recipes.

3 teaspoons of Agar flakes is roughly equivalent to 1 teaspoons of Agar powder.

How to use Agar Flakes: Put 1/4 cup liquid (water or milk) into a shallow pan. Stir in 1 tablespoon agar flakes, cook over medium heat, gently for 2 to 3 minutes, until the flakes are dissolved. Add this warm agar mixture immediately to liquid you wish to thicken, and stir well. It will thicken in 30-45 minutes or faster in the refrigerator.
