This small and firm, golden yellow lentils are hulled & split Moong Bean (Green Gram). Rich in protein and fiber content, a staple food in India.
When cooked, have a mild, earthly flavor and hearty, creamy, porridge-like consistency that makes a delicious comfort food, and easy to digest.
Basic Cooking Instruction:Carefully sort, wash and rinse. Bring 4 cups water to boil in saucepan. Slowly stir in 1 cup lentils. Reduce heat to a simmer. Cook until tender & soft but cooked through, approximately 18-20 minutes.
Whisk lightly, remove the floating foam. Flavor with butter or oil, salt to taste and dal masala seasoning if desired.
Cook uncovered over low heat until desired consistency. Serve warm with steamed basmati rice, flat bread and choice of any veggie.
